Buffalo Sabres Rasmus Ristolainen Named to Preliminary World Cup Roster

Buffalo Sabres defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen was one of 16 players named to Finland’s preliminary roster for the World Cup of Hockey 2016.

The roster was announced in the early-morning (read: very, very early) hours of March 2nd and includes players from multiple teams.

Ristolainen was one of four defensemen announced for the team; alongside him are Pittsburgh’s Olli Maatta, Anaheim’s Sami Vatanen, and Dallas’ Esa Lindell.

Lindell is currently playing with the AHL’s Texas Stars.

Boston’s Tuukka Rask and Nashville’s Pekka Rinne were the goaltenders announced.
