The 2016 IIHF World Junior Championships are around the corner – less than a week away now – and one Buffalo Sabres prospect still has a shot at playing in the tournament.
Defenseman Will Borgen, a 2015 draft pick of the Buffalo Sabres, remains with Team USA. The Americans just recently made a few cuts – which Borgen survived – and now head overseas to finish their training camp in Vierumaki until the 24th.
Forward Kieffer Bellows, defenseman Casey Fitzgerald and goaltender Tyler Parsons were trimmed from the team prior to its departure for Finland.
Borgen, 19, now has a good shot at making the team, though he was initially considered a long shot.
