Buffalo Sabres Casey Mittelstadt and Rasmus Asplund (yes Asplund, not Dahlin) will be among 26 prospects participating in the NHLPA Rookie Showcase on August 26th in Toronto. The 2018 showcase is the 10th year of the event and includes rookies that made their debut at the end of last season or are expected to make an impact in the league this upcoming season.
The top overall pick in last year’s NHL draft, Rasmus Dahlin, will not be participating however it is not uncommon for top picks to not attend the event. The previous top overall picks, Auston Matthews and Nico Hischier, also did not participate.
