By now, every Buffalo Sabres fan knows (or should at least be starting to realize) that the Sabres will not qualify for the 2017 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Needing to make up 7 points in just 15 games gives the Sabres a 0.2% chance of making the playoffs according to Sports Club Stats, and the team would have to go 13-1-1 or better over the final month of the season just to raise its odds to above 50%.
So adios, playoffs! Maybe we’ll meet up with you next season.
The Sabres’ failure to make a concerted playoff push was not for lack of trying; as imperfect as this team is, I don’t doubt that most of the guys in the locker room wish things had turned out differently this year.
