The Buffalo Sabres announced earlier this year that they wouldn’t be partaking in the Traverse City Tournament with the Detroit Red Wings anymore. That ended a two-year relationship that saw the Buffalo Sabres win one tournament – their first appearance.
It came as a surprise to me when the team said they wouldn’t be going to Michigan this year, and I speculated back then that the team would be announcing plans to run their prospect tournament. I mean, why wouldn’t Terry Pegula want to show off his remodelled hockey team in his shiny new building.
Today the Buffalo Sabres announced just that, saying they will be holding a prospects tournament at First Niagara Center this year.
