As Sabres start shopping, coaching candidates abound

The Sabres have picked a good time to look for a coach. Some of the most well-known names in the industry could be on the market this spring.

Buffalo won’t be the only team hiring, however.

After firing Ted Nolan, the Sabres became one of four teams searching for a permanent coach. Toronto got rid of interim coach Peter Horachek on Sunday in a housecleaning that included General Manager Dave Nonis and much of the scouting staff. New Jersey President Lou Lamoriello, who took over the Devils’ coaching duties at midseason, says he won’t be back behind the bench.
