BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo men's tennis team swept the Mid-American Conference weekly awards as the Bulls improved to 4-0 in league play for the first time since 2011-12. Freshman Villhelm Fridell was named the MAC Singles Player of the Week, while Fridell and junior Petr Vodak were named the Doubles Team of the Week, the conference office announced Thursday morning.
Fridell went a perfect 4-0 for the Bulls this past weekend as UB swept conference road matches at Western Michigan and Toledo. In singles, Fridell won both of his matches at fourth singles in straight sets beginning with a 6-2, 6-3 win over the Broncos on Friday and he followed that up with another 6-2, 6-3 win on Sunday against the Rockets.
