Schum went undrafted in 2013, and spend a couple of seasons bouncing around NFL camps. First with Cleveland, then Tampa, and then nearly winning a job with the New York Jets.

In 2014 Schum got a second tryout out with both the Bucs and the Jets. In 2015 the third time was the charm in Tampa and he won the job.
