KENT, OH – The host Kent State Golden Flashes scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh to defeat the University at Buffalo softball team 3-2 in the weekend opener of the three game series. The loss drops UB to 8-7 in MAC play.
Both pitchers were sharp for much of the afternoon as the Bulls struck first in the top of the third. Junior Savanna Norcio opened the inning with a triple to left center and then sophomore Leandra Jew was hit by a pitch and stole second. Both runners came in to score on a double to left center by freshman Katie Weimer, who recorded her 42nd RBI of the season, one shy of tying the single-season school record.
