Maybe all it took for UB Softball to get a few wins was a broken bus and a trip even further south.
In their last real road trip before beginning MAC play, the Bulls took on Savannah State Friday and came away with perhaps their two most complete wins of the season, 6-3 and 9-0 over the Lady Tigers.
The Bulls got a pair of outstanding pitching performances, as Charlotte Miller went 5.0 innings, giving up one run on seven hits in the first, and Lace Smith pitched the shutout, with eight strikeouts, in the nightcap.
UB led throughout in the first, scoring a single run in three of the first four innings, but needed three insurance runs in the top of the seventh on a Katie Weimer double and Sarah Edwards single to pad their lead, which held up even as Savannah State scored two in their last gasp.
