As I laid out this morning, neither Buffalo nor Duquesne lost much from last year's matchup, won 4-3 by the Dukes, and both brought in talented freshmen to #2 singles.
Tonight, UB took the doubles point to get out on the right foot and held that narrow lead throughout for a 4-3 win themselves, flipping the script on the Dukes from last season.
Needing only to split the singles points after relatively smooth doubles wins at #2 and #3, Buffalo weathered a back and forth affair in singles. Tanja Stojanovska at #1 was the first to fall, but Chantal Martinez-Blanco, Margarita Kotok, and Mercedes Losada Rubio all got to third sets while Laura Holterbosch reestablished the lead with a quick win over Alexa Miller at #4.
