Brandon Beane made a big move during his first few months on the job with the Buffalo Bills by trading for Kelvin Benjamin.
This came after Beane had already traded away Sammy Watkins. Cut to today and both players are members of the Kansas City Chiefs.
He inherited LeSean McCoy on the roster, but the veteran back has been awful all year and could be elsewhere in 2019.
There seems to be a tricky balance between giving veterans continued chances and focusing on the future. Beane decided he had enough with Benjamin and let him go before the season ended, but held onto McCoy at the trade deadline during a season that clearly wasn’t headed toward another playoff berth.
