On the field, Bills show few ill effects of off-field distractions in beating Giants

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- Ralph Wilson Stadium might now be called New Era Field, but it seemed like the same old storm clouds were gathering over the Buffalo Bills prior to Saturday's preseason game against the New York Giants.

Hours before the game, the team announced that second-year running back Karlos Williams -- whose promising rookie season evaporated into a disastrous offseason that included him showing up to training camp overweight -- was released. Soon after, the team stayed in the headlines when it announced defensive tackle Marcell Dareus, already suspended four games for an NFL substance-abuse policy violation, would be entering rehab.
