Almost three years ago, Sean McDermott was named head coach of the Buffalo Bills. A lot has happened in the intervening time, most notably the Bills ending the longest playoff drought in North American sports and re-entering the postseason two years later.

- Led Buffalo to their first 10-win season in 20 years and their second playoff berth in three seasons while finishing second in the AFC East
- Four-win improvement from 2018 to 2019, flipping the record from 6-10 to 10-6
- Team was as high as 5-1, 6-2, and 9-3 for the first time since Super Bowl years
- Finished season tenth in point differential at +55
- Kept Brian Daboll as offensive coordinator, despite finishing near the bottom in every major statistical category in 2018
- Kept defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier
- Went 2-of-5 on instant replay challenges in 2019 (and had a couple where he was fortunate he was too late)
- Currently sits at 25-23 as Bills head coach, the best winning percentage since Wade Phillips
