It was a bad night. No way around it. The Carolina Panthers had given Ronald Darby the classic initiation for an NFL rookie cornerback, beating him on one pass after another. The worst was when Darby found himself standing in the end zone, helplessly looking up as Kelvin Benjamin jumped for a touchdown catch.
He felt frustrated and a bit humiliated. Maybe it was only a first preseason game for everyone else. For Darby, it was a rude introduction to football at the next level. He needed some counseling from older teammates who had gone through, and survived, similar experiences.
