Bills announce red helmets for Highmark Stadium finale

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The Bills will be closing out their final season at Highmark Stadium in red -- at least, in red helmets.

The Bills announced on Tuesday afternoon that red helmets would be worn for the team's Week 18 game against the New York Jets. Wearing the helmets was a much-anticipated move by fans.

The lids feature a blue-and-white stripe, white face mask and a primarily blue buffalo mascot. They were worn from 1987-2001, including the team's four straight Super Bowl appearances from 1991-94. Buffalo made the announcement with images of the team wearing their traditional blue jerseys and white pants with the red helmet.
