COSTA MESA, Calif. -- Even though he served as interim head coach and was considered one of the front-runners for the job, Anthony Lynn never thought he’d be the head coach of the Buffalo Bills.
A protégé of Rex Ryan who worked under the charismatic head coach with the New York Jets and Bills, Lynn said he was considered part of that culture even though he had a different temperament and personality as a coach.
And the Bills' front office appeared to want to move away from the Ryan regime, hiring former Carolina Panthers defensive coordinator Sean McDermott as the team’s head coach in January.
