2021 NFL Draft: Buffalo Bills had second-round trade down solidified before picking Carlos Basham

The Buffalo Bills selected Wake Forest defensive end Carlos Basham with the 63rd overall selection in the 2021 NFL Draft on Friday night. That isn’t what was supposed to happen, though, according to team general manager Brandon Beane.

Beane said the Bills had a trade down confirmed with a team from the NFC:

“[Boogie Basham] was there for a while and kept thinking he was going to get picked and we had a trade completed with an NFC club but we said if one player was there — which was Basham — we weren’t gonna do the deal.
