4 Players The Buffalo Bills Should Target In The First Round Of The 2018 NFL Draft

The Buffalo Bills made the playoffs for the first time in 17 seasons last year but failed to win a game. This franchise feels that they are on the way up and, with back-to-back first-round picks at No. 21 and No. 22 in the upcoming NFL Draft, they are hoping to add two more impact players to their roster. Here are four players they are likely targeting with those picks:

1) Da'Ron Payne, DT, Alabama Crimson Tide

The Bills have a major need at defensive tackle, which is the direction they're expected to go with one of their first-round picks. With Kyle Williams heading towards free agency and Buffalo in major need of upgrading their pass rush, they could kill two birds with one stone with this pick. Payne would step in and be the starter right away and has plenty of upside due to this athletic ability.

2) Jaire Alexander, CB, Louisville Cardinals

Simply put, the Bills need a cornerback - only Tre'Davious White is under contract next season and starter E.J. Gaines is likely headed elsewhere on a huge contract in free agency. If Gaines is gone, Buffalo needs to find a starter at the position early in the draft, which will cause them to look in Alexander's direction.

3) Mason Rudolph, QB, Oklahoma State Cowboys

If the Bills look for a quarterback late in the first round (and don't trade up for one), Rudolph could be the guy they target. He has the size NFL teams covet, checking in at 6-foot-5, 235-pounds with functional mobility. He doesn't have the best arm in the class, but it's more than strong enough and he's best deep ball thrower in the group. He completed 65 percent of his passes for 4,904 yards, 37 touchdowns, and nine picks.

4) Malik Jefferson, LB, Texas Longhorns

Buffalo also has two open spots they need to fill along their linebacking core. Enter Jefferson, who has all of the tools to be a game breaker against both the run and in coverage. Jefferson is finally starting to live to his potential as a dynamic linebacker, leading the Longhorns in tackles, tackles for loss, and sacks this past season.
