Wilson Chandler’s impending return this weekend necessitated a roster move. And apparently that move was waiving forward Iman Shumpert.
With Chandler set to return from a 25-game PED suspension before Sunday’s game against Philadelphia — and Shumpert having been signed as a 16th player in his absence — Brooklyn had to clear a roster spot.
“I think (Chandler’s) strength is important, right? He’s a strong and physical guy; that’s helpful. And he’s a mature player. He’s been in the league awhile now,” Kenny Atkinson said. “He’s got a lot of credibility in this league, which just helps him so many ways.
