Kyrie Irving was a late scratch Monday with a tight hamstring, sidelined along with Kevin Durant and DeAndre Jordan as the Nets dropped a fourth straight. When the trio decided to come to Brooklyn en masse, this couldn’t possibly have been what they expected.
After not appearing on the initial injury report, Irving was downgraded to questionable less than three hours before tipoff and then ruled out about an hour later for their MLK Day matinee loss to Philadelphia.
“Just came in with some tightness. We’ll play it cautious. Don’t want to lose in long term, so that’s the plan,” said coach Kenny Atkinson, who admitted the issue has been nagging Irving for a few days.
