‘Upbeat’ Knicks need two tries to address angry fans

In an surprising development, the Knicks sent out a statement Sunday night to address their free-agency failure.

In a less surprising development, they needed two tries to get it right.

“While we understand that some Knicks fans could be disappointed with tonight’s news, we continue to be upbeat and confident in our plans to rebuild the Knicks to compete for championships in the future, through the draft, targeted free agents and continuing to build around our core of young players,” team president Steve Mills said in a statement hours after it was revealed Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving would sign with the Nets.
