The Brooklyn Nets should have “Long Island Night”

It all started in Commack, NY. The now defunct Long Island Arena was once home to one of the ABA’s classic teams: the New York Nets. The Brooklyn Nets, then known as the New Jersey Americans, was forced to play a playoff series there after its home arena, the Teaneck Armory in New Jersey, was booked for an event.

In 1968, the team made the move a permanent for the 1969 season. The New Jersey Americans became the New York Nets. However, the Nets decided that due to low attendance, they needed to move arenas. They went to the Island Garden in West Hempstead.
