ESPN.com sent out shock waves across the NBA news cycle when it reported that almost half of the league lost money last season.
What is worse is that nine teams lost money even after revenue sharing checks were shared. Nine of the teams that lost money were playoff teams.
While it is not a shock to see perennial bottom-feeders like the Magic and Pistons lose money, several notable teams were shockers. The Cleveland Cavaliers and the San Antonio Spurs were two of them.
The Cavaliers are perhaps the biggest shock. LeBron James is not only Cleveland’s main attraction but the league’s biggest star.
