New York Liberty lose again, their 17th straight over two years

The New York Liberty are teaching Joe Tsai patience. For the 17th time over two years, his WNBA club lost, this time to the Washington Mystics, 94-85, at the Westchester County Center. The Liberty are now 0-4 on the season and in last place in the league’s Eastern Conference.

New York is a mere three losses from the WNBA record of 20 straight losses held by the now defunct Tulsa franchise in 2011. The Liberty have tasted victory only in the preseason, beating the Chinese Women’s National Team on May 9 at Barclays Center. This is Tsai’s first season as the Liberty owner, having bought the team from James Dolan in January.
