Nets go batty down the stretch in loss to Spurs

SAN ANTONIO — The Nets weren’t daunted by the specter of the Spurs, or a 12-point deficit or even a swarm of bats. It was San Antonio’s endgame execution that did them in.

The Nets fell just short in a 117-114 loss at AT&T Center before a crowd of 18,057 — and a small swarm of bats. Both the fans at the flying mammals got treated to a great game.

The Nets (28-25) saw a late-game lead slip away to the Spurs, the franchise they most want to emulate.

A 3-pointer by Joe Harris, who had 18 points, gave the Nets a 109-106 lead with 2:59 left.
