MIAMI — When the Nets hosted the Heat earlier this month, their last-minute miscommunication and failure to foul cost them. But this time there was no need. They rode a huge third quarter and a red-hot Wayne Ellington all the way to a 111-105 win Monday night.

Brooklyn (9-22) came in as one of the worst 3-point shooting teams in the NBA — second-worst in 3s, and third-worst in percentage — but erupted to hit 12-of-23 from behind the arc. And Ellington was at the heart of it, pouring in a game and season-high 26 points off the bench, all but three in the second half.
