Mitch Creek takes a break to play for Australian national team

Fresh off his two 10-day contracts with Brooklyn, Mitch Creek will take a breather from the G League to play for the Australian national team in the FIBA Asia World Cup Qualifiers this week.

Creek will play Wednesday vs Kazakhstan in the Kazakh capital of Astana. Then on Sunday, it’s on Tehran, the Iranian capital. Australia has already clinched a spot representing Asia in the FIBA World Cup this summer but his coaches would like to enhance team chemistry.

The 6’6” wing will miss at least two and possibly three Long Island games. But Kenny Atkinson told reporters Tuesday that Creek will return to the G League after the national team stint.
