Lineup announced for NBA Showcase in Africa

Before the Boston Celtics visit Italy, Spain and Mexico later this year, three members of the C’s organization also will be making a trip to Johannesburg, South Africa, to participate in the NBA Africa Game 2015.

Celtics guard Marcus Smart and swingman Evan Turner will play in the showcase as members of Team World, and coach Brad Stevens will serve as an assistant on the squad under Brooklyn Nets coach Lionel Hollins, the league announced Thursday.

The event, which will be held Aug. 1 and benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of South Africa, SOS Children’s Villages Association of South Africa and the Nelson Mandela Foundation, pits one team of NBA players from around the world against Team Africa — a collection of first- and second-generation African players.
