Kyrie Irving elected Vice President of players union, giving Nets two members of union executive committee

On Monday the NBPA announced that Kyrie Irving has been elected Vice President on the Executive Committee. Irving, who will replace Pau Gasol, has served as the Nets’ representative on the NBPA since the start of the 2019-20 season.

He will begin his 3-year term as Vice President starting immediately.

“This was the right time for me to run for a leadership position in the NBPA,” said Irving. “I have been an observer and a participant in union affairs for a while, but for the most part, I was off on the sidelines, supporting our Executive Committee as they made important decisions.
