With the Nets dealing with 10 new players on the roster — and three new starters in the lineup — there has been a host of defensive breakdowns in the fourth quarters and overtime that have cost them games. So Atkinson has taken to holding up cue card signs on the bench in endgame situations.
“It’s just a defensive coverage we have. And we’ve had trouble communicating it to the guys in the past, so we came up with this idea. We have to find a way so everybody knows.
