For Nets, community action isn’t just defined by dollar signs

It’s not all about big bucks or press releases.

As Brian Lewis reports this weekend, the Nets social justice efforts in Brooklyn are myriad. While Joe and Clara Wu Tsai’s $50 million commitment to a Social Justice Fund has garnered much (deserved) publicity, the Tsais’ parent company, BSE Global, has been financing smaller projects. BSE owns the Brooklyn Nets, Long Island Nets, New York Liberty and Barclays Center.

Lewis draws attention to a BSE Global partnership with St. John’s School of Law on a program for underserved high school students, “teaching about civil rights and sports law to show minority youth there’s actually a path for them through law.
