Atop Barclays Center, a look at the green roof

The Architect's Newspaper got an exclusive look at what's going on atop Barclays Center, the greening of an arena.

As has been reported, the nearly three acre roof is being given a makeover: 30,000 plus boxes of sedum are being placed across the curved roof to give residents of nearby high-rises, including the three Pacific Park apartment towers that will be built on the arena's edge, a greener, more pleasant view, capture rainwater, and give neighbors a buffer against concert audio. (It's a bass issue, so not related to the Nets.)

Linda Chiarelli, the Forest City Ratner vice president in charge of the project, notes that sedum comes in four varieties and will give off different hues as the seasons change.
