Western Michigan puts end to Bowling Green women's basketball season

KALAMAZOO — The Bowling Green State University women’s basketball team saw its season come to a close Monday with an 84-67 loss at Western Michigan in the first round of the Mid-American Conference tournament.

The Falcons (10-21) struggled all season, entering conference tournament play as the No. 12 seed in the 12-team conference.

There was no sign of an upset Monday, as Western Michigan claimed a 24-16 lead after one quarter and was up 47-26 at halftime. The fifth-seeded Broncos (18-12) advance to face No. 4 seed Ohio on Wednesday at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland, with the game starting 30 minutes after the noon opener between Toledo and Central Michigan.
