Three in the third: Bowling Green steals Game 1 at last minute

BOWLING GREEN — Two-minute drill is not a hockey term, per se, but Bowling Green had the Madhouse on Mercer ready to make an exception.

The Falcons went more than 51 minutes without a goal Friday at Michigan Tech, though a well-timed avalanche changed the Falcons’ fortunes in a hurry.

Bowling Green scored three times in the span of 1:46 to wrestle away Game 1 of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association tournament quarterfinals from No. 6 Michigan Tech with a 3-2 victory Friday at Slater Family Ice Arena.

Connor Ford, Frederic Letourneau, and Max Johnson had the goals for the Falcons, with Johnson’s winner coming at 13:41 of the third period.
