More than 50 years have passed since Dave Wottle’s remarkable, motivational, and unforgettable performance in the 800-meter run in the 1972 Olympics in Munich, Germany.
But there’s no question the Bowling Green State University hall of famer’s impact from that race, as well as his Falcons’ career, is still felt today.
Wottle passed all seven runners in the second of two laps in the 800 to win a gold medal by three-hundredths of a second over pre-race favorite Yevhen Arzhanov of the USSR.
