BOWLING GREEN — A comeback seemed improbable for Bowling Green State University on Saturday afternoon, and that made the celebration in a sea of orange on the field at Doyt Perry Stadium all the more satisfying.
With starting quarterback Drew Pyne sidelined with an injury, no momentum early on, and a Toledo team that jumped out to a 21-0 lead in the second quarter, BGSU dug deep with a remarkable final 31 minutes. The Falcons scored 28 straight points, including 14 in the final half of the fourth quarter, to stun Toledo 28-23 in the 90th edition of the Battle of I-75 in front of a sell-out crowd of 24,000 fans.
