Punching in: Sled drill helps BGSU football stay locked in during practice

BOWLING GREEN — A three-man football sled might not seem like the most beneficial piece of equipment for players like Bowling Green State University quarterback Drew Pyne and punter John Henderson.

But for the two athletes, as well as their teammates, it has become an invaluable tool for the Falcons’ practices.

BGSU has started a new tradition under first-year head coach Eddie George where players “clock in” at the start of practice and “clock out” at the end by hitting each of the three sections of the sled. The Falcons’ mentor and former Heisman Trophy-winning running back stands on a platform behind the three bags and makes sure everyone is ready to go physically and mentally for each session.
