COLUMBIA, S.C. — Bowling Green found out why South Carolina is the second-ranked women’s basketball team in the country as the Falcons fell to the Gamecocks 114-47 Friday.
South Carolina jumped out to a 27-7 lead in the first quarter and never looked back, leading 55-19 at halftime and dominating the game at both ends of the court.
The Gamecocks shot 64 percent (42-for-66) from the field while holding the Falcons to just 24 percent (18-for-74).
South Carolina also outrebounded BG 53-25 and won the scoring margin in the paint by a count of 66-18.
Joniyah Bland-Fitzpatrick led BG with 10 points, Johnea Doanhue notched nine points and four rebounds, and Paige Kohler tallied seven points and five assists.
