Bowling Green State University soccer standouts Logan Kowalczyk and Audrey Shea have swept the Mid-American Conference's Scholar-Athlete-of-the-Week awards, the league office announced on Wednesday afternoon (Sept. 22). Each student-athlete earns the honor for the first time.
Kowalczyk, a native of Pinckney, Mich. (Gahanna [Ohio] Lincoln), had a pair of shutouts in the Falcons' two matches last week. He made three saves in BGSU's 3-0 win over Wright State, then had two more stops as the Falcons topped nationally-ranked FIU, 2-0. The wins vaulted BGSU into the national rankings, as the Falcons are now ranked 17th in the nation in the United Soccer Coaches poll and 24th by College Soccer News.
