Cleveland, Ohio – Bowling Green State University senior Jovannah East (Zion, Ill. / Zion Benton Township) and junior Samantha Marion (Franklin Lakes, N.J. / Ramapo) have earned Mid-American Conference weekly honors for their performances in the season-opening meet against Eastern Michigan Saturday. East was named MAC Gymnast of the Week and Marion earned MAC Specialist of the Week honors.
East scored 39.300 to take the all-around competition, winning both the vault and floor along the way. She was third on bars and fourth on balance beam as well. Her all-around score was the 16th best in the country on opening weekend.
