BOWLING GREEN — Coach Michael Huger rounded out his staff at Bowling Green State University by hiring Brandon Watkins, a former Penn State guard who most recently was an assistant coach at Mid-American Conference peer Northern Illinois.
The men's basketball program announced the hiring Wednesday, completing a staff that lost two assistant coaches during the offseason.
Watkins was a former All-Big Ten guard who helped the Nittany Lions to the Sweet 16 in 2001 and spent a decade playing overseas. He was on Mark Montgomery's staff at NIU for the past three seasons, and had started his career as a graduate assistant there earlier in his career.
