Bowling Green State University softball phenom Payton Gottshall has been named Mid-American Conference Pitcher of the Week. The announcement was made by the league office on Tuesday afternoon (Feb. 23).
Gottshall earns the honor for the second time in as many weeks this season and the fourth time in her brief BGSU career.
Gottshall, a native of Massillon, Ohio (Perry H.S.), had a 2-1 record and an ERA of just 0.64 last weekend, to continue her tremendous start to the season. On Friday (Feb. 19), Gottshall recorded her third complete-game shutout in as many starts, allowing just two hits in eight innings as BGSU beat Winthrop, 2-0, at the host school's tournament.
