Trailing by as many as 17 points in the first half and by three points at the break, Bowling Green opened the second half with a 25-11 spurt to take a 53-42 lead over the Eagles with 11:54 left in regulation.
Metheny, who entered the game averaging 9.4 points per game and shooting 30.6 percent from 3-point range, finished with a career-high and game-high 29 points.
