BOWLING GREEN — Bowling Green State University’s football program has reaped the benefits of investing heavily in special teams for the past handful of seasons.
Count first-year coach Eddie George, who likes to refer to the unit as special “forces,” as someone who is all in on the aspect of football that, perhaps, gets overlooked.
“I try to make it special,” George said. “The special forces is an elite group, and you have to make it count for more.
“When you’re a four-core special forces guy, you eat first. It’s selflessness, and oftentimes when players look at special teams, it’s like a throw away play or you’re not of value.
