Fleming ties career high, but BGSU women fall to Northern Illinois

BOWLING GREEN — Freshman Lexi Fleming tied her career scoring high, but the Bowling Green State University women’s basketball team lost 78-71 to Northern Illinois in a Mid-American Conference game Saturday at the Stroh Center.

Bowling Green (8-2, 4-1 MAC) was one of four unbeaten teams in MAC competition entering play Saturday. Kent State and Central Michigan are the only conference unbeatens remaining, with Central Michigan handing Buffalo its first MAC loss.

Fleming finished with 26 points and eight rebounds. Junior Kadie Hempfling added 16 points and seven rebounds for Bowling Green.

Northern Illinois (4-5, 2-2) took a 10-point lead into halftime, thanks to a second quarter in which the Huskies outscored the Falcons 25-15.
