BOWLING GREEN — When Derek van der Merwe began Monday’s press conference at the Stroh Center introducing Fred Chmiel as Bowling Green State University’s next women’s basketball coach, he gave a light-hearted remark about how busy he has been.
It certainly spoke volumes, though. There is no denying just how hectic it has been – especially in the last six weeks – for the BGSU athletic director who was hired in late October.
“Thank you everyone for being here today. This is the third press conference I’ve had this year, so I’ve been saying, I do not want anymore this year,” van der Merwe said.
