Falcons skate to 2-2 tie with Lake Superior

BOWLING GREEN — Bowling Green State University skated to a 2-2 overtime tie Friday with Lake Superior State in a Western Collegiate Hockey Association contest at the Slater Family Ice Arena.

Neither team scored in the 5-on-5 overtime prescribed by the NCAA, nor the 3-on-3 overtime of the WCHA. Mitch McLain scored in the third round of the shootout to give the Falcons (4-3-3, 3-1-3-2 WCHA) an extra point in the league standings.

Lake Superior State is now 2-6-3 overall and 1-2-2-0.

Freshmen Max Johnson and Brandon Kruse scored even-strength goals for BG. J.T. Henke scored on the power play for the Lakers, and Anthony Nellis was credited with a goal at 8:57 of the third period that forced the overtime.
