Even without home ice, Bowling Green hockey has favorable matchup in CCHA playoffs

BOWLING GREEN — Bowling Green State University’s hockey team did not get the result it wanted at Lake Superior State.

A sweep last weekend led to a No. 6 seed in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association tournament and a best-of-three series at No. 3 seed Bemidji State beginning on Friday.

The Falcons missed the chance for home ice, but the first-round matchup could be a blessing in disguise.

“There’s no more unknown,” Falcons coach Ty Eigner said. “With all the new players we have, there were a bunch of guys in the first series up at Bemidji that had never been to Bemidji, they had never played Bemidji, they didn’t know what Bemidji was.
