Bowling Green's Payton Gottshall pitches perfect game

BOWLING GREEN — Bowling Green State University softball pitcher Payton Gottshall recorded a perfect game Sunday, retiring all 15 batters she faced in a 9-0, five-inning victory over Akron.

Gottshall struck out the side in the second and third innings, finishing with seven strikeouts. It was her third perfect game with the Falcons, her second this season. She’s the first BGSU pitcher to record more than one perfect game in a season.

Bowling Green had six hits and put eight runners on base via walks. The Falcons scored six runs in the fourth inning to take command of the game.
